In the wake of COVID- 19, when the world is suffering from the pandemic, travelers visiting Seychelles may need to do a PCR test, also called exit COVID-19 PCR test, when leaving the country and going back to their home country. Though not a compulsion as per the Seychelles Authorities, a traveler needs to do it if it is mandatory for his/ her air travel or for their country of destination. PCR testing facilities for tourists are available on Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue as well as on island resorts. Those who require PCR tests in Seychelles must contact the Public Health Authority or any of the private clinics providing the service there. WHERE CAN I DO A 24/7 PCR TEST IN SEYCHELLES?
A New 24/7 Covid-19 testing laboratory was recently opened in Seychelles – the “Seychelles Medical Services Pty”. This healthcare company, registered in Seychelles, is the only 24/7 service there. In addition to offering reliable and fast Covid-19 tests, it also provides the facility to directly book these tests online. Moreover, this is the first state-of-the-art dedicated Covid-19 testing laboratory on Mahe the main island of Seychelles. The private facility aims at providing convenient and seamless testing services primarily for tourists before they fly back home.
The first center that has opened on Mahe is located on Eden Island at “The Blue Building” (next to Bravo Restaurant). By the end of May 2021, the company anticipates the opening of five further PCR test stations in Seychelles on Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue. All of these centers will operate on a 24/7 basis.
According to Seychelles Tourism Board: “The new laboratory can process over 30,000 tests per day and the tests can track all known genes and variants of COVID-19. The facilities provide a full range of tests for travelers including a Rapid Molecular Covid-19 Test, the Gold standard Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Test, Rapid Antigen Test, and Antibody Test. Travel Certificates or test results will be issued by email within 24 hours of taking the test on a standard service. An express service is also available for results within 8-10 hours. A Fast-Track Service can return the result in 2-3 hours if needed.”
